How to Raise Prices in Your Salon Suite

5 Tips How to Raise Prices

There are a multitude of reasons for a salon owner to raise prices in their salon. From inflation to advanced training and everything in between, the reasons for wanting to raise prices vary, but let’s talk how to approach the issue in your salon.

  • Honesty is the Best Policy – Let your clients know up front that you will be increasing the prices in your salon and why this is the case. Of course, you do not have to lay out all the details of your salon, but if you have earned more certificates or you have moved to a larger suite to benefit your clients let them know!

  • Soften the Blow – With expenses popping up in everyday life for everyone it can sometimes be overwhelming to hear of a price increase. Give your clients an extra incentive to book their next appointment with a special promo. Make the increase exciting news. If you have just completed a certification, then show it off! For example, “Master Markdown – receive 10% off your next service in celebration of my Master Balayage certification!”

  • Give Price Options – The aim is to never lose clients so make sure to keep price options. If you have valued clients that will not be able to afford a full service, consider offering a dry cut or lower priced options.

  • Increase Wisely – Be sure not to alienate by increasing your prices too quickly. Increase in increments. Start off with a smaller increase and see how it reflects in your booking rate. If after the increase you are still consistently at or over 80% bookings, then increase again.

  • Believe in Yourself – Most importantly is believe in yourself! Have confidence in yourself and your skills and that you are worth the price increase!
