In the Spotlight – Amanda Havens
When you walk in Amanda’s Wax and Beauty Boutique at Salon Suites Bazaar 280 you immediately are immersed in overwhelming sense of happy. Bright colors in an overall relaxed environment, its no wonder that Amanda says, “I’ve been accused of being a hippie. More color is always better. I’m bohemian and eclectic, lets go with eclectic.” But don’t let her easy going nature fool you. This lady is all business when it comes to beauty. Being able to be creative and making her clients feel special and beautiful is what makes her career so rewarding.
“Omg I get to make money making people feel pretty. It is the most creative job…People leave
feeling better. How’d I get so lucky.”
After being in the business for 10 years Amanda decided she would take what she learned worked and what didn’t work and strike out on her own. She decided Salon Suites would be the best fit for her because it allowed her the ability to be her own boss and make creative decision for herself about what would be best for her clients, it offers your own salon without all the start up expense, and it offers her clients the privacy they need to feel comfortable. Now, she couldn’t be happier to be in control of her own destiny and her clients rave about her new salon and the Salon Suites concept. They also love that Salon Suites is a one stop shop. They can see Amanda and get waxed and their makeup done and then walk across the hall and get their nails and or hair done all while supporting truly talented independent salon owners.
“I want them to come in and let them know they can be comfortable. You are a regular right from the start.”
And let’s face it, comfort is key in waxing. Especially when it comes to a Brazilian, which is Amanda’s specialty. She has a gift in many things beauty but waxing is her forte. If you are like many and never been up for it before or had a bad experience and are scared to let someone else venture south, trust us and give Amanda a try. Especially with the warm Southern Spring just around the corner you will be oh so glad you did.
When she isn’t in her salon you may run into Amanda checking out one of Birmingham’s new local eateries (She is a self admitted foodie.) and exercising her creative muscle getting crafty or painting.
And a parting bit of wisdom for you her is, “Always leave your brows and bit to professionals.”
Amanda’s products are Glo-minerals and Glo-theraputics and Lycon wax.
