Let’s Meet Master Barber, Jonathan Dunlap

Please everyone give a warm welcome to Salon Suites first barber, Jonathan Dunlap. Jonathan has joined the Salon Suites Vestavia Hills location and we couldn’t be more excited. Jonathan has experience in everything from fades and mohawks to old fashion shaves. While always an artist and creative in school, he wasn’t sure how to channel his passion. His mother made the suggestion that he follow in his brother’s footsteps of going to Alabama School of Barber Instruction in Birmingham, Alabama. Jonathan has now been in the beauty industry for over 15 years.

He  made the leap to Salon Suites after deciding he wanted his own place without the overhead of a traditional salon ownership model. It must have been his brother’s turn to follow in his footsteps because his brother Steve decided to follow Jonathan over into salon ownership with Salon Suites. Together the brothers own My Brother’s Barber.

While is personal style is simple (the simpler the better), or self admittedly anything his wife picks out, he does love to stay up on current trends and push his creativity when it comes to hairstyles and shaves. His favorite haircut is called the “South of France”, but he is up for just about anything or any vision his client brings to him. For those of you who have never had an old fashion shave due to sensitive skin, never fear because Jonathan as great experience and products to soothe the most irritable of skin.

When he is not in the salon or brushing up on his technique and skills you can find Jonathan spending time with his family and shooting some hoops.
