Lelanda has been in the beauty industry 28 years, but looking back her experience started well before she began her professional education at the School of Beauty Culture. For as long as she can remember Lelanda has enjoyed getting dolled up and experimenting with hair and makeup. It always made her feel special and now she passes that love for beauty on to her clients.

“The greatest reward to get is when you turn that client around and they like the way they look… We all have those days that we don’t really feel to good about ourselves and when you come in to a stylist (that you have) a personal relationship with and talk to them and have a personal service and have your hair done, have your makeup done and look in the mirror and fell good about yourself is personally so rewarding.”

And now that she has made the move to Salon Suites her clients can receive even more personal and intimate attention in her private suite. She feels that they can receive personal attention in a timely manner that respects their busy schedule and still receive excellent and trendy service. Not only does Salon Suites afford her an intimate environment for her clients it also allowed her to set her own hours so that she can still have time to be an educator, spend time with her family, and enjoy her hobbies of working out and relaxing with a good book.

“I like the personal attention and I think they thoroughly enjoy it and yet its a chic and cool environment. It’s really young and up to date… Everyone is really impressed. They like the area the salon is in, they like the salon itself, they like the whole set up.”

Lelanda specializes in makeup application and hair cutting and draws her inspiration from everyday beauty: color, light, sound and the world around her. She personally love short hair iconic looks like those of Princess Diana, Madonna, Cyndia Lauper, Anita Baker, etc. and she tends to gravitate more towards trendy looks and bright color.  She is motivated everyday by the people that have supported and educated her. Even in the process of doing the interview she was doing the hair of one of her personal educators. Her family and educators support her and that gives her drive to give back to others.
